Significance:

Questioning the way in which these levels of association relate, and why there is insularity for specific associations is important. This allows a mind to sift through the nonsense and get to the heart of matters, as in this analysis, one isn't being presented information, but rather a model is given on how the presentation of knowledge is being constructed. A better insight into the intent of this construct can be discerned.

Example Questions:
Node Specific:

  • How does Biden relate to Candidate?  [Between levels shared node: Campaign node shared]  This is an important association.  Is Biden candidacy being related primarily as a democratic candidate, or a presidential candidate.  If he is being related to the seat of presidential power, via how his candidacy is frame, such as presidential hopeful vs democratic hopeful, or if he is being related to former presidents more so than other candidates this will give Biden an advantage that is disruptive to the free and fair elections process, as the frame associates him with a closer proximity to power.   So how does Biden relate to Candidate?
  • How does Topic relate to Democratic? [Between levels shared node: Democratic].  The answer is straight forward, topic is simply that, topics in the news, under the category Democratic.  However Democratic can take on more than one meaning such as democratic party (a smaller scope) or democratic governance (a larger scope).
  • How does Political relate to Democratic? [Between levels shared node: National]  Again, Democratic can have an unifying scope of national governance or a divisive scope of democratic party.  So the political relation, the framing, will have a mixed impact on the candidate's representation.
  • How does Sanders relate to President?  [Between levels shared node: Trump]  How is Sanders being associated with the president?  How would that differ from Joe Biden?  For example, is sanders registering significant association with President Obama, or significant clash among President Trump?  Should these associations be made during the race for democratic candidacy?
  • How does Sanders relate to News?   [Between levels shared node: Presidential] This might seem odd, and somewhat intuitive, as the obvious answer would be that Sanders is in the news, that's how he relates.  However, if one takes a look at Elizabeth Warren's model, there is some rich information in this question.  Elizabeth is primarily associated with the news, which is a generic term, with less specificity.  That would likely move her by association away from the issues of power.  That is the primary framing would put her at a disadvantage.  Sanders primary association is democratic, which can be both divisive (referring to political party) or unifying (referring to overall governance of democracy).  That is, the lack of a uniform framing for presidential candidates in the news cycle can result in a disadvantage or disadvantage that interferes with a free and fair election.  So Sanders relates to news different than Elizabeth Warren, and that is noteworthy for both candidates.  Trump, in his model, has a specific primary association of impeachment.  And again, that association demonstrates how the news cycle can interfere and sway elections, which is something that needs to be monitored and addressed to ensure that fair elections are indeed fair.

General Framework:

  • Why is the primary association a priority over the secondary and tertiary association?
    • Select Distinguishing node(s): Democratic National  [The activity as primary, the actors largely secondary]
  • In what way is the priority primarily being established? Pragmatic Consideration and/or Theoretical Consideration?
    •  Pragmatic consideration.  Pragmatic, of live actors.
  • What is the primary purpose of the priority? (Top-Down, or Bottom-Up)
    • Top-Down: Emphasis on non-critical-irrational purpose (of power). Bottom Up: Emphasis on critical rational purpose (of authority).  Working Assumption 1: This is how power is arranged, is it authorized, if not, do not accept it (the critical-rational purpose), vs. Working Assumption 2: That is, this is how things are, this is power, accept it as the order.
